Setting Goals for 2014

With 2013 complete it is time to set new goals for 2014. This year I will be more ambitious and set out to complete one of my 2013 goals of paying off my student loans. I graduated pharmacy school with $85,000 in student loans (June 2012) and owing my parents an additional $40,000 without interest. My parents do not expect me to pay them back but I am a very independent person and will only feel right once the debt has been paid back. To date I have approximately $12,000 to pay back in student loans left. Below is my list of goals for 2014:

  • Pay off Student Loans
  • Create Pharmacy Blog (Achieved)
  • Create Financial Freedom Blog
  • Run a Half-Marathon
  • Become Board Certified in Geriatrics
  • Write and publish an e-book on “How to Get into Pharmacy School”
  • Save 50% of my net income

One of these goals has already been completed by creating this pharmacy blog! (www.ThePharmacistBlog.com)

Financial Freedom Blog

Creating a blog about my adventure to financial freedom is a long term goal. I hope to semi-retire by the age of 40 and work part-time or on-call as a pharmacist. I believe my time is precious and living a more modest lifestyle is worth the sacrifice. I hope to acquire new hobbies and travel the world. This will require me to save roughly 50% of my net income for the next 13 years to hit my goal of retirement at 40.

Board Certified in Geriatrics

Becoming Board Certified in Geriatrics is also a goal for further my education as a pharmacist and specializing in my current practice in long term care pharmacy. This will require a significant amount of time to study and prepare for the exam.

Writing an E-Book

Lastly, I am currently working on writing an e-book on “How to Get into Pharmacy School”.

I hope to inspire others with my goals and I would love to hear yours. We are here to support each other, comment below on your goals for 2014.
